I just wanted to give a quick overview of some of the terms we use in the industry.
You will probably know or heard of most of them. Have a quick read through if you’re not sure of what you want to do or how to describe it.
There are many resources available on the internet or in books which are more in depth and perhaps specific to your tree which you may like to investigate.
Please remember we are always available to take your call, discuss your requirements and set up a site visit for a free quote.
Michael will discuss your options with you and give you his recommendations but ultimately it is over to you to make your decision on how to proceed.
Our stump grinding machine has a rotating blade which shreds through the stump of tree or palm. You can request a particular depth which we are happy to do where possible.
Below ground level is ideal for the purpose of laying turf. Before you choose to grind your stump consider whether you need the root ball and all roots removed completely. If so, an excavator will be required to do this.
Before booking stump grinding work please ensure there are no underground cables in the vicinity. If you’re not sure call Dial before you dig on 1100 (it’s free).
Our machine is 750mm wide and will fit through a standard gate enabling us to get into tighter access places such as courtyards and up onto retaining walls.
This is a process of removing selected limbs and branches of a tree.
There are several reasons for doing this. Pruning can improve and maintain the health of the tree by removing deadwood, damaged or diseased limbs and can prevent damage caused by falling limbs that may be structurally unsound.
If you have planted or inherited a young tree it is recommended that you prune the formative branches to help prevent some of the above issues from ever occurring. This can save you a lot of money in the long run.
All our pruning in accordance with the Australian Standard Pruning of Amenity Trees AS4373-2007. This ensures continued healthy growth of your trees.
Crown reduction is used to reduce the overall size of a tree.
It is achieved by reducing the volume of foliage throughout the canopy and not just taking the top off.
This type of treatment will reduce the weight of the tree and help control increase in size. You will have a beautifully shaped and clearly maintained tree that is easy on the eye.
This is where we prune the lower branches of the tree to increase the height of the canopy.
A great option if you have low branches that are interfering with people or property. Inside areas will benefit from an increase of light if the tree is near to a structure. Once lifted the growing energy of the tree is directed to the canopy.
Many palms grow berries or pods which can make a huge mess in your garden and pool areas and attract unwanted wildlife, notably in Queensland – bats!
Some of you love your palms and they are beautiful if maintained.
Michael will climb up your palms and remove the seeds/pods and any dead or unsightly fronds lessening your weekend workload. We recommend cleaning every 6-12 months or whenever they are driving you nuts.
The full removal of a tree using roping and sawing techniques that enables the tree to be pulled over in one movement.
Sufficient space and skill are required to do this.
We usually use a hedge trimmer to sheer the face off and reduce hedges into the desired shape and height.
Hedge trimming is best done in the cooler months to avoid sun damage.
This is the complete removal of all branches and trunk of the tree down to as near as possible to the ground.
